Molina Healthcare in the headlines: 6 recent updates

From winning California Medicaid contracts in five counties to the completion of its acquisition of a Medicaid managed long-term care business, here are six recent headlines about Molina Healthcare reported by Becker's since Aug. 26: 

1. Molina finalized its acquisition of AgeWell New York's Medicaid managed long-term care business for $110 million.

2. Molina Healthcare of California Partner Plan was one of nine healthcare organizations recognized  by the National Committee for Quality Assurance for its work to address care inequities. 

3. Molina Healthcare of Nebraska was one of three plans selected by the state to administer its Medicaid managed care program. The contract begins Jan. 1, 2024. 

4. Molina Healthcare of California is expanding its partnership with Healthcare in Action to San Diego County. The street-based medical group offers care to unhoused people and started providing care in partnership with Molina in Los Angeles County earlier this year. 

5. Molina Healthcare of New Mexico is partnering with Tucson, Ariz.-based Pyx Health to offer behavioral health services centered around isolation support for Medicare members.

6. Molina was awarded California Medicaid contracts in Los Angeles, Riverside, San Bernardino, Sacramento and San Diego counties as part of California's first statewide managed care plan procurement process. With those new or additional contracts in the offing, Molina will add 1.4 million enrollees, marking the payer's biggest Medicaid win, according to the Los Angeles Business Journal
