Molina partners with street-based medical group to serve unhoused members in San Diego County

Molina Healthcare of California is expanding its partnership with Healthcare in Action, a street-based medical group that provides care for unhoused people, to San Diego County.

The group started providing care in partnership with Molina — which offers Medicare, Medicaid and marketplace health plans — in Los Angeles County earlier this year.

According to a Sept. 14 news release, Healthcare in Action and Molina will identify Molina members experiencing homelessness in hospitals, emergency rooms, recuperative care and skilled nursing facilities. These individuals can sign up for primary care and social support from Healthcare in Action, with the goal of eventually transitioning to permanent housing.

"Molina is proud to see the tremendous progress being made in supporting the health and well-being of individuals experiencing homelessness throughout San Diego County," Abbie Totten, plan president of Molina Healthcare of California, said in the release. "Our valuable partnership with Healthcare in Action will continue to make a positive and growing impact on our local communities."
