The payer has introduced a fourth style of work for employees: hybrid home. The other three are office, hybrid office and home.

Humana is repositioning its real estate portfolio to align with the new work models through a multiyear strategy for its 5 million square feet of work space.

The hybrid home model aims to support flexibility around employee commutes and when to come into the office in-person. When at the office, new space designs and furniture standards are expected to change the company’s office culture as well. Cubical stacked floors will be transitioned to more residential-feeling spaces that support employee collaboration.

Recent renovations include a semi-public coffee shop, meal to-go market, conference center and team collaboration space. The downtown Louisville, Ky., campus features a Refill coffee shop, game lounge and outdoor pop-ups.

At the Becker's 5th Annual Fall Payer Issues Roundtable, taking place November 17–19 in Chicago, payer executives and healthcare leaders will come together to discuss value-based care, regulatory changes, cost management strategies and innovations shaping the future of payer-provider collaboration.
