Humana puts another $25M into affordable housing
Humana invested another $25 million in affordable housing in 11 states April 13 in an effort to combat housing insecurity and improve health outcomes. The move follows an original investment of $25 million for affordable housing in September.
Humana, Baton Rouge General reach contract agreement
Humana and Louisiana’s Baton Rouge General Hospital reached a coverage agreement March 25 for up to 12,000 Medicare Advantage members. The hospital said it had not received a rate increase from Humana in over a decade.
Humana announces $750M debt offering

Humana focused on primary care over M&A after Kindred purchase
Humana said March 15 it is focusing on primary care opportunities over large-scale mergers and acquisitions in the future and is divesting from the company’s majority position in hospice care. In August, the payer purchased Atlanta-based hospice and home healthcare provider Kindred at Home for $5.7 billion. Humana rebranded Kindred by rolling out CenterWell Home Health on March 1.
Humana refreshes board of directors
Humana elected David Feinberg, MD, president and CEO of Cerner, to its board of directors March 1. The payer will also add two independent directors to its board; one before Humana’s 2022 Annual Meeting of Shareholders on April 22 and the other after. Two incumbent board members will be phased out. In total, the company has added seven independent directors to its board over the past three years.
Humana adds 2 cancer treatments to specialty pharmacy
Humana Specialty Pharmacy announced Feb. 8 it would begin offering members Tagrisso and Lenvima, two drugs for cancer treatment.
