Elevance Health in the headlines: 7 recent developments

From its CEO being named to Fortune's "50 Most Powerful Women" list, to a judge ruling it must face a lawsuit over alleged overpayments, here are seven recent stories Becker's has covered about Elevance Health:

1. Elevance CEO Gail Boudreaux ranked ninth on Fortune's 2022 "50 Most Powerful Women" list released Oct. 4.

2. Elevance must face a federal lawsuit alleging the payer received more than $100 million in overpayments from CMS after a judge declined to dismiss the suit Oct. 3.

3. Simply Healthcare Plans, a Florida-based Elevance subsidiary, was one of seven payers to receive accreditation for health equity Sept. 28 from the National Committee for Quality Assurance. The new accreditation program, Health Equity Accreditation Plus, recognizes organizations that partner with community groups, offer clinical and social resources, collect data on social determinants and are transparent about that data.

4. Elevance took part in a $50 million private investment round in September for GoHealth, a Chicago-based health insurance marketplace and Medicare-focused digital health company.

5. Elevance was ranked the 53rd best company for hybrid work in 2022 by FlexJobs.

6. Iowa awarded Elevance Health's subsidiary Amerigroup Iowa a four-year Medicaid managed care contract Aug. 31. The contract begins July 1.

7. Elevance had the highest CEO-to-employee pay ratio in 2021, according to analysis from S&P Global released Aug. 19. Ms. Boudreaux's $19.3 million compensation package was 379 times the median employees' salary.
