From Centene to several BCBS companies, payers across the country have recently lost top executive talent to startup companies:

Priority Health has appointed Kyla King as vice president of individual markets and Scott Norman as vice president for Medicare. 

Regence BlueShield of Idaho has named Daniel Meltzer, MD, as executive medical director. 

Humana's senior vice president, chief accounting officer and controller Michael Koeberlein is retiring Aug. 1, the Louisville Business Journal reported June 21. 

Lifespark has named Matt Nyquist chief population health officer to lead the St. Louis Park, Minn.-based company's design, development and management of global risk products and market expansion.

Canton, Ohio-based US Acute Care Solutions has named Christopher Hummer its CEO. 

Cigna Medical Group, a division of the payer's Arizona business, has named Jeff Holt president and general manager.

Healthcare interoperability startup Opala has named Ken Chandler as CEO, effective July 1. Mr. Chandler was previously senior vice president of national accounts at Premera Blue Cross.

Collinsville, Conn.-based Penstock Group has named Robert Haskey, MD, as chief medical officer 

Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield in Virginia President Jeff Ricketts is retiring in September after nearly 40 years with the company.
