A third round of Highmark job cuts

Highmark Health began a third round of layoffs May 23, resulting in the termination of 98 employees, the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reported.

A majority of the affected positions were at enGen, an IT subsidiary.

A Highmark spokesperson told the newspaper that the company hired 6,100 people in 2023 and 1,770 individuals this year. The Pittsburgh-based organization employs more than 37,000 in total.

Highmark laid off 47 employees earlier in May. In March, the company laid off 182 employees in Pennsylvania, Delaware, West Virginia, and parts of New York, including 159 individuals in the insurance division. In 2023, Highmark laid off more than 250 employees.
