6 recent payer workforce moves

Some payers are abandoning office spaces, while others are opening them, as remote and hybrid work modes remain a popular option for employees. Here are six payer workforce updates Becker’s has reported since Sept. 4.

  1. Humana’s executives are less tied to the payer’s Louisville, Ky., headquarters as the company shifts toward remote and hybrid work. Sources interviewed by news station WDRB said about half of the company’s executives are based outside of Louisville, with some opting to work at Humana’s Arlington, Va., office. 
  1. CVS Health, Humana and Elevance Health were named among the “Best of the Best” for corporate inclusion among Fortune 500 companies by the National Business Inclusion Consortium. The designation honors corporations for their commitment to diverse employees and business owners, including LGBT people, people of color, women and people with disabilities. 
  1. Centene’s request to cancel the $450 million in tax incentives the company was set to receive for its Charlotte campus was approved by North Carolina officials.The company will no longer move forward with its plan to build a 2.4 million-square-foot campus in Charlotte because of shifts to remote and hybrid work. 
  1. UnitedHealth Group has a combined total of at least 780,000 square feet across several facilities in the Minneapolis area available for sublease. 
  1. Morgan Health, the healthcare division of JPMorgan Chase, is seeking a vice president and research lead to support the company’s research, investments and health equity work. The position was posted Oct. 6 and is based in Washington, D.C. The research lead will “oversee a research agenda to support our innovation, investment and health equity work,” according to the job posting. 
  2. Commonwealth Care Alliance Health Rhode Island moved into a new 12,000-square-foot headquarters in Providence at 3 Davol Square. The space will host 45 local employees.
