Molina Healthcare acquired several Medicaid contracts during the third quarter of 2022, which will have a "profound impact" on the company over the next few years, Molina President and CEO Joseph Zubretsky said during the company's Oct. 27 earnings call.
Among the contracts were agreements in Iowa, Nebraska and California, with the latter highlighted by Mr. Zubretsky.
"Once it commences in January 2024, the California contract award is projected to provide membership growth, measured on current membership rolls in excess of 1.2 million members as well as the associated significant premium revenue growth," he said on the call.
Molina's contracts expand its Medicaid portfolio to 20 states, and the deals are expected to add approximately $5.8 billion in annual premium revenue, Mr. Zubretsky said.
