Here are seven Medicaid updates Becker’s has covered since Oct. 16.

  1. A group of U.S. senators and representatives introduced legislation to provide Medicaid enrollees with a year of continuous coverage. The lawmakers said extending 12 months of eligibility to Medicaid enrollees would prevent “churn,” when beneficiaries can lose their coverage for temporary increases in income, such as picking up an extra shift or earning overtime pay.
  1. Molina Healthcare is promoting two senior leaders to run its flagship Medicaid business, CEO Joe Zubretsky said.
  1. Georgia is seeking bids from payers to manage the state’s Medicaid program, valued at $6 billion.
  1. Centene CEO Sarah London is expecting more states to expand Medicaid. On an Oct. 24 investor call, Ms. London said the company expects bipartisan support for expansion to continue, after North Carolina expanded the program with a Democratic governor and a Republican supermajority in the legislature.
  1. Around 2.3 million people would gain insurance coverage if 10 states expanded Medicaid in 2024, according to a report from the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation.
  1. CVS Health is one company backing Medicaid startup Waymark through its participation in a $42 million financing round.
  1. Blue Shield of California named Jennifer Nuovo, MD, as chief medical officer for its Promise Health Plan, which provides health coverage to Medi-Cal beneficiaries in Los Angeles and San Diego counties.
