Georgia seeks bidders for $6B Medicaid contracts

Georgia is seeking bids from payers to manage the state's Medicaid program.

According to an Oct. 26 report from the Atlanta Business Chronicle, the contracts are valued at $6 billion total. The contract procurement is the state's first since 2016.

The state's program is currently managed by Centene subsidiary Peach State Health Plan, Elevance Health subsidiary Amerigroup Community Care, and CareSource. The state will contract with up to four companies to manage its Medicaid program, according to the request for proposals.

The state will move around 200,000 beneficiaries in the "aged, blind and disabled population" from fee-for-service to managed care at the beginning of the contract period, according to the Atlanta Business Chronicle.

Proposals are due to the state by Dec. 1, and contracts will be awarded in April 2024.
