As part of the contract, Tufts will focus on reducing inequities in colorectal cancer screenings, diabetes care, hypertension, and child and adolescent well-care visits, according to a May 23 BCBS Massachusetts news release.
With the addition of Tufts, 53 percent of BCBS Massachusetts members now receive care from clinicians taking part in equity-focused value-based contracts, according to the release. In December, four systems signed pay-for-equity contracts with the insurer:
- Dallas, Texas-based Steward Health Care Network, which has 10 hospitals in Massachusetts.
- Cambridge-based Beth Israel Lahey Health.
- Somerville-based Mass General Brigham.
- Boston Accountable Care Organization, which is part of Boston Medical Center.
