BCBS Texas, Hendrick Health extend contract deadline to July 31

Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Texas and Abilene, Texas-based Hendrick Health have extended their contract by two months as they continue to work out a potential new deal.

The sides have extended their contract multiple times to avoid a split. In April, the payer and health system extended their contract through May 31. The contract is now set to expire after July 31, according to BCBS Texas' website.

BCBS Texas members with the following plans would be affected if the sides are unable to reach an agreement by the deadline:

  • Blue Choice PPO
  • Blue Essentials
  • Blue Advantage HMO

The sides reached a contract agreement keeping Hendrick Medical Center Brownwood (Texas) patients with Blue Advantage HMO plans in network, according to the website.
