The contract was set to expire April 30 but will now run through May 31, according to BCBS Texas’ website. The sides in January extended the contract from Feb. 1 to April 30 as they continued negotiations.

BCBS Texas members with the following plans would be affected if the two sides are unable to reach an agreement by the deadline:

  • Blue Choice PPO
  • Blue Essentials
  • Blue Advantage HMO

The sides are also negotiating a contract affecting Blue Advantage HMO members at Hendrick Medical Center Brownwood (Texas). That contract is set to expire April 30.

At the Becker's 5th Annual Fall Payer Issues Roundtable, taking place November 2–3 in Chicago, payer executives and healthcare leaders will come together to discuss value-based care, regulatory changes, cost management strategies and innovations shaping the future of payer-provider collaboration.
