Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Texas and Abilene, Texas-based Hendrick Health have extended their contract another month to avoid a split between the organizations.
The contract was set to expire April 30 but will now run through May 31, according to BCBS Texas' website. The sides in January extended the contract from Feb. 1 to April 30 as they continued negotiations.
BCBS Texas members with the following plans would be affected if the two sides are unable to reach an agreement by the deadline:
- Blue Choice PPO
- Blue Essentials
- Blue Advantage HMO
The sides are also negotiating a contract affecting Blue Advantage HMO members at Hendrick Medical Center Brownwood (Texas). That contract is set to expire April 30.
