Premera Blue Cross taps chief medical officer from SCAN

Premera Blue Cross has named Romilla Batra, MD, senior vice president and chief medical officer.

Dr. Batra joins Premera from SCAN Health Plan, where she spent nine years as the non-profit Medicare Advantage plan’s chief medical officer, according to a May 2 Premera news release. 

 In her new role, Dr. Batra will have accountability for Premera’s clinical strategy, according to the release. She has oversight of teams focused on population health, quality, healthcare performance, clinical programs, utilization management and medical policy.
