Aetna, Dignity Health strike deal

Aetna and San Francisco-based Dignity Health have reached an agreement on a multiyear contract that allows the payer's members to remain in network with Dignity's facilities and providers in California, Arizona and Nevada.

Aetna's commercial and Medicare Advantage plans went out of network with Dignity facilities in California, Arizona and Nevada on April 4. The new agreement is effective retroactive to April 1, The Daily Courier reported April 25.

"This is a win for our patients who deserve access to high quality, high-value health care services close to home, and we appreciate their patience as we have worked through this process," Dignity said in a statement on its website.

Cathy Hughes, Aetna's vice president and chief network officer for the Western and South Central region, told the Courier the payer is "pleased to reach an agreement with Dignity Health that enables us to continue working together to meet the health care needs of our members."
