SCAN Health Plan and Sacramento, Calif.-based Sutter Health are bringing their co-branded Medicare Advantage plans to four more Northern California counties in 2027, up from six in 2026.
SCAN and Sutter first announced their collaboration in 2025, with Sutter hinting at possible future expansion beyond the region. According to a SCAN news release from Oct. 6, 2026, the joint plans — now called Sutter Senior Advantage, a SCAN Medicare Plan (HMO) — launched in 2026. The plans currently serve more than 20,000 members.
The offering includes access to Sutter hospitals, physicians, urgent care centers and specialty care services. SCAN service advocates have also been trained on Sutter’s approach to care.
“Our work with Sutter is grounded in a shared belief that when a health plan and provider align around what matters most, we can deliver better care, a better experience and greater value for older adults,” SCAN Group and SCAN Health Plan CEO Sachin Jain, MD, said in the release.
The organizations will continue looking for opportunities to work together on improving the MA experience for older adults in Northern California, according to the release.
In 2027, SCAN is rolling out several other co-branded plans, partnering with Costco, Walmart and The Springs Living to serve various markets.
