BCBS Arkansas promoted Anne Gardner to chief privacy officer, according to a Jan. 27 news release shared with Becker’s.
In the role, which Ms. Gardner stepped into in 2025, she oversees the company’s information privacy program, encompassing HIPAA compliance, impact and risk assessments, data protection and other relevant policies. Ms. Gardner also acts on behalf of the legal team with AI-related assets, serves on the Responsible AI Council and the AI Steering Committee, and helps with drafting business and data use agreements.
In 2024, Ms. Gardner joined the BCBS Arkansas legal department. She will continue to work on negotiation and litigation as she serves as chief privacy officer.
Previously, Ms. Gardner spent 25 years as a federal prosecutor and supported the U.S. Department of Justice’s Office of Justice Programs with data privacy efforts. She authored a justice information privacy guideline for the Vice President’s 2002 Global Criminal Justice Advisory Committee, as well.
