Elevance Health’s Amerigroup Community Care of Georgia, a Medicaid organization, named Tich Changamire, MD, PhD, as its president, effective Aug. 12.
According to an Aug. 7 news release shared with Becker’s, Dr. Changamire will work on care coordination, quality and access across Medicaid and Medicare. While Amerigroup Community Care of Georgia is a Medicaid plan, the company had already unified the state’s Medicaid and Medicare operations under the plan president position, a spokesperson told Becker’s.
Most recently, Dr. Changamire led Wellpoint D.C., another Elevance Medicaid subsidiary. However, the company is now exiting the district’s Medicaid managed care program.
Previously, Dr. Changamire was vice president and chief medical officer for Elevance Health’s commercial health benefits business. He also held senior leadership roles with Humana and CareFirst BlueCross BlueShield.
Melvin Lindsey, the previous president, wrapped up his 26 years with Elevance on July 21.
