Three Optum businesses are laying off 58 people in New Jersey, according to June Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act notices.
Effective Aug. 26, the layoffs span Optum Select Management in Somerset, Optum Care in Rutherford and Optum Services in Basking Ridge, affecting 17, five and 36 roles, respectively.
An Optum spokesperson said the company is relocating to a new office, and the company is not exiting the market.
“As part of our commitment to making healthcare more affordable, we regularly review our services and staffing levels to ensure they meet the needs of the people we serve, our business and evolving market dynamics,” the spokesperson told Becker’s. “We are supporting affected team members with job placement resources and will redeploy our talent to suitable open roles within the company.”
The recent round of layoffs builds upon 572 additional Optum layoffs in the state this year.
