North Carolina’s economic investment committee voted Oct. 26 to cancel the job development investment grants set for the project.

In August, Centene said it would no longer move forward with its plan to build a 2.4 million-square-foot campus in Charlotte because of shifts to remote and hybrid work, according to a Charlotte Business Journal report cited by the news station.

The building was set to be the largest economic development in Charlotte’s history, WSOC reported.
