The layoffs will take place in February 2025, according to regulatory documents filed with Connecticut regulators on Dec. 20.

In May, Kansas awarded Medicaid contracts to Centene, UnitedHealthcare, and Healthy Blue, a newly formed collaboration between Blue Cross Blue Shield of Kansas, BCBS Kansas City and Elevance Health. In October, a Kansas judge denied Aetna’s petition for judicial review of the state’s awards.

This fall, Aetna also laid off an additional 458 employees who reported to its Hartford, Conn. headquarters, most of whom worked remotely.
