CVS Health will lay off 42 additional employees at Aetna's headquarters in Hartford, Conn, after laying off hundreds of employees earlier this year.
According to a notice published Nov. 25, the layoffs will take effect between Jan. 25 and Feb. 7.
Though all of the affected employees report to Aetna's Hartford headquarters, just 12 reside in the state, a spokesperson told Becker's.
In October, Aetna reported it would lay off more than 400 employees at its Hartford headquarters. The layoffs are part of an initiative to cut more than $2 billion in costs at CVS Health.
Across the company, CVS will lay off more than 2,900 employees as part of its efforts to cut costs, accounting for less than 1% of the company's workforce. Most of the job cuts are in corporate roles, according to CVS Health.
CVS will also lay off 53 employees at its Coram specialty infusion center in Tampa, Fla., according to a layoff notice published Nov. 26. In October, CVS said it planned to close its specialty infusion business.
"We are committed to supporting these colleagues, who will receive severance pay and benefits, including access to outplacement services," an Aetna spokesperson told Becker's.
