The ranking was released March 5. Forbes partnered with market research firm Statista to analyze 3,000 U.S. companies that employ more than 50 people and were founded between 2014 and 2021. Companies that were created under the umbrella of a larger corporation were not included. Companies were evaluated on three key criteria: company reputation, employee satisfaction and growth.

Among the organizations analyzed, 500 startups made the final ranking, including two insurers: Devoted Health (5th place) and WelbeHealth (289th place). Capital Rx, a pharmacy benefits manager that partners with health plans, was ranked 162nd on the list.

Devoted Health was founded in 2017 and offers Medicare Advantage plans. It currently has nearly 200,000 members. WelbeHealth was founded in 2015 and serves 1,700 members through the All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly program, or PACE, which predominantly serves seniors dually eligible for Medicaid and Medicare.

At the Becker's 5th Annual Fall Payer Issues Roundtable, taking place November 17–19 in Chicago, payer executives and healthcare leaders will come together to discuss value-based care, regulatory changes, cost management strategies and innovations shaping the future of payer-provider collaboration.
