The program will provide participants access to digital coaching and wellness tools, according to a Feb. 26 news release from CarelonRx. The program will also feature a GLP-1 companion module to help members prescribed weight loss drugs manage their medications.

GLP-1 drugs such as Ozempic and Wegovy can cost upward of $10,000 annually without insurance, and employers are seeking ways to manage the expense of the therapies.

Other insurers have developed similar programs. In January, Cigna rolled outEncircleRx, a program that offers employers and health plan sponsors a way to manage obesity, diabetes and cardiovascular disease using GLP-1 drugs.

At the Becker's 5th Annual Fall Payer Issues Roundtable, taking place November 2–3 in Chicago, payer executives and healthcare leaders will come together to discuss value-based care, regulatory changes, cost management strategies and innovations shaping the future of payer-provider collaboration.
