An AI-powered model improved maternal health outcomes for Molina Healthcare members.
According to a June 13 news release from Molina, the model, used with over 150,000 patients over 18 months, led to a 60 percent decrease in racial disparities in preterm births among Black women.
"The power of this tool has allowed us to ensure appropriate delivery of prenatal care and improve birth outcomes, especially in minority populations," Jason Dees, DO, chief medical officer of Molina Healthcare, said in the release.
The model led to an 8 percent decrease in preterm births and an 8 percent decrease in NICU admissions compared with national trends, according to the release.
