Kaiser Permanente has been named the top health insurance company in the U.S. for a sixth consecutive year, according to Insure.com’s annual ranking.
In the final 1 through 5 score, 60% came from a customer survey, 25% from NCQA health plan ratings and 15% from NAIC complaint index scores. The survey was conducted in 2025 through independent research firm Dynata and asked more than 2,000 insurance consumers to rate their health plan on customer satisfaction, ease of service, policy offerings, affordability, deductibles, provider availability and whether referrals were required.
Within the survey portion, affordability was weighted most heavily at 20%, with customer satisfaction, likelihood to recommend, likelihood to renew and trust each weighted at 10%.
The research was a collaboration with the Brantley Risk and Insurance Center at Appalachian State University in North Carolina. The 2025 ranking is here.
