Pending regulatory approval, the additions would increase UnitedHealthcare’s ACA presence to 22 states.

The expansion follows a period that began in 2016 where the company nearly abandoned selling ACA health plans after steep losses. In 2016, United sold plans on 33 state exchanges, which fell to two states by 2018.

At the Becker's 5th Annual Fall Payer Issues Roundtable, taking place November 2–3 in Chicago, payer executives and healthcare leaders will come together to discuss value-based care, regulatory changes, cost management strategies and innovations shaping the future of payer-provider collaboration.
