The two parties failed to reach a new agreement before contracts that covered six Piedmont facilities expired in June and July. At the time, a spokesperson for UnitedHealthcare said in a statement that Piedmont wanted to raise its rates by nearly 30 percent during the next few years.
The new agreement reached Monday is retroactive to July 1, meaning UnitedHealthcare policy holders who received care at Piedmont during the period from July 1 to Aug. 29 will have their claims to reflect in-network rates.
