Five Medicare Advantage plans scored a full five stars in this year’s health plan rankings from the National Committee for Quality Assurance, up from three in 2025.

An additional 15 plans, including five more Kaiser health plans from around the country, scored 4.5 stars in 2026.

The ratings were released Sept. 15 and are based on 2025 data from commercial, Medicare, Medicaid and ACA plans that reported Healthcare Effectiveness Data and Information Set and Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems results to the NCQA. Some MA plan data is from 2024 because of reporting schedules, and NCQA accreditation status was also factored in. Plans were rated on a zero-to-five-star scale. In total, 956 plans received a rating.
