In an Oct. 22 judgment, Federal Claims Judge Margaret Sweeney said the class members were entitled to cost-sharing reduction payments President Donald Trump abruptly moved to end in October 2017.
Under the ACA, cost-sharing reductions aimed to help offset the cost of providing health insurance to low-income Americans on the health law’s individual insurance exchanges. After the Trump administration ended the payments, Common Ground Healthcare Cooperative, which is leading the class, sued the government in an attempt to recoup the subsidies.
Federal officials have 60 days to appeal the decision.
