1. Humana announced a partnership May 16 with New York City-based investment firm Welsh, Carson, Anderson & Stowe to develop 100 value-based primary care clinics between 2023 and 2025.
2. As a part of its $1 billion value creation initiative, Humana said during its July 27 second-quarter earnings call that in 2023 the company will split into two units: insurance services and CenterWell.
3. Humana completed the sale of a 60 percent stake in its subsidiary Kindred at Home’s hospice and personal care business to the private equity firm Clayton, Dubilier & Rice on Aug. 11. The $2.8 billion deal was first announced in April.
4. Humana said Aug. 12 it is planning to purchase Inclusa, a Stevens Point, Wis.-based managed care organization, for an undisclosed amount.
5. Humana completed the rebranding of its home health division Sept. 1. CenterWell Home Health is now the official name for more than 350 of the division’s locations in 38 states. The division was previously known as Kindred At Home.
6. Humana is reportedly exiting the Colorado group insurance market, Colorado Politics reported Oct. 24. Though the company has made no formal announcement, it told brokers in a Sept. 19 letter that it would end group coverage by June 30, 2024 and will continue to sell Medicare Advantage, dental and vision plans in the state.
7. Humana plans to lay off 157 employees at its SeniorBridge facility in Jupiter, Fla., as it prepares to close most of its SeniorBridge locations nationwide, the South Florida Business Journal reported Nov. 28.
8. The Defense Department awarded a $70.9 billion Tricare managed care support contract to Humana on Dec. 22. The nine-year contract begins in 2024.
