Humana expects to add 'at least' 625,000 Medicare Advantage enrollees in 2023

Humana is projecting to add 125,000 more Medicare Advantage members in 2023 than it previously predicted.

Humana said in a Jan. 9 Securities and Exchange Commission filing that it is expecting to add "at least" 625,000 Medicare Advantage members this year, up from its previous estimate of 500,000. That previous estimate, from a Dec. 1 SEC filing, was itself an increase from its original projection of 325,000 to 400,000 new members.

The company's latest estimate represents an expected net membership gain of 13.6 percent over the year ended Dec. 31, 2022, according to the filing.

Humana said in the filing that the upward revision is "attributable to higher sales volumes and favorable member retention."
