The program, called Harvard Pilgrim SmartStart, will be made available to accounts that are effective Jan. 1, 2020. Harvard Pilgrim SmartStart will connect new accounts and members to necessary services before their plans’ effective date. The health plan says by engaging members early, they’ll see uninterrupted care, more accurate claims and cost containment measures.
“We understand that signing up or switching health plans can be a pain point for many members and employers,” Beth Roberts, senior vice president of commercial business at Harvard Pilgrim Health Care, said in a prepared statement. “With SmartStart, we are helping ease this transition with integrated, data-driven supports that begin before the effective date to guarantee uninterrupted care.”
