Mr. Leavitt said Arkansas’ health insurance marketplace is facing rising costs and health insurers are looking to raise premium rates for 2017. He also spoke about how the state will need to cover five percent of its private option program next year, with the rest covered by the federal government.
Mr. Leavitt also said healthcare has not been a main theme of discourse in the current presidential campaign, though he said the incoming president faces many decisions concerning the government’s role in health insurance.
