Empire BCBS opens new midtown Manhattan headquarters

Empire BlueCross Blue Shield executives and New York City leaders cut the ribbon May 24 on the company’s new headquarters in midtown Manhattan.

President and CEO of New York markets Alan Murray, Medicaid President Mark Levy, MD, and Anthem Executive Vice President and Chief Administrative Officer Gloria McCarthy, welcomed First Deputy Mayor Lorraine Grillo to the new office in the PENN 1 building at 1 Pennsylvania Plaza, according to a news release shared with Becker’s.

The Empire BlueCross BlueShield Foundation also finalized a $300,000 grant for Breaking Ground, New York City’s largest provider of street outreach and permanent supportive housing for homeless individuals.

“We are New York’s health insurance company — a dedicated team of New Yorkers taking care of New Yorkers for the last 85 years,” Mr. Murray said. “Our new office in the heart of midtown represents our commitment to serve New Yorkers and to join the city in the important work to revitalize what we can all agree is the greatest city in the world.”
