Elevance Health to rebrand Amerigroup as Wellpoint

Elevance Health is rebranding its Amerigroup subsidiary as Wellpoint.

Pending regulatory approval, the new name will take effect in January, according to a July 31 Elevance Health news release. The name change will take effect in Arizona, Iowa, New Jersey, Tennessee, Texas and Washington. Amerigroup Maryland rebranded as Wellpoint in January. 

There will be no changes to Wellpoint members’ healthcare benefits or coverage following the rebranding. Amerigroup serves Medicaid and Medicare enrollees. 

Elevance said in the release the rebranding reflects the “company’s evolution to support whole health.”
