Elevance Health struck a deal with Astrana Health to operate clinics for Anthem Blue Cross members in California.
Alhambra, Calif.-based Astrana Health, an independent physician association, will operate clinics exclusively for Anthem Blue Cross members, according to a July 15 news release.
The first clinic site opened in Whittier, Calif., according to the release. The site provides health assessments, preventive care and chronic disease management.
"This collaboration with Astrana Health will address crucial health needs while ensuring our members receive top-tier care in their local community," Beth Andersen, president of Anthem Blue Cross Commercial Health Plans, said in the release.
Astrana Health has more than 10,000 affiliated providers and serves more than 1 million people in value-based care arrangements.
Anthem Blue Cross, part of Elevance Health, has 7.9 million members in California. The company has made efforts to expand its presence in primary care. In April, Elevance Health announced a joint venture with private equity firm Clayton, Dubilier and Rice to launch a primary care venture.
