CMS sanctions Massachusetts payer’s Medicare Advantage drug plans following state enrollment suspension

CMS has suspended enrollment for two Medicare Advantage prescription drug plans offered by eternalHealth, a Boston-based insurer.

In March, Massachusetts regulators banned eternalHealth from marketing any of its products and services in the state and suspended new member agreements until further notice after the company failed to meet state financial solvency requirements.

“Because eternalHealth is not permitted to accept new enrollments under its license with the state of Massachusetts, it is non-compliant with CMS’ contract requirements,” CMS wrote April 3.

CMS’ sanction will remain in effect until Massachusetts regulators determine that eternalHealth can successfully operate under good standing and that the order has been removed.
