Centene is expanding Custom Health Option and Individual Care Expense Arrangements, formerly known as individual coverage health reimbursement arrangements, to all of its Ohio and Oklahoma employees in plan year 2027.

An Oct. 16 news release said the development builds on the company’s CHOICE rollout to Indiana-based employees in 2026.

“Our experience in Indiana has demonstrated the value of empowering employees with greater flexibility and choice in their healthcare decisions,” Centene CEO Sarah London said in the release. “Expanding CHOICE Arrangements to our Ohio and Oklahoma employees reflects our confidence in this model and our commitment to leading the evolution of affordable employer-sponsored healthcare.”

The company’s Ambetter Health Solutions business has been at the forefront of CHOICE expansion. Ambetter Health Solutions President Alan Silver recently told Becker’s that these offerings will be available to employers in four more states in 2027, building on the 13 states it currently serves. The company currently offers these arrangements in Ohio and Oklahoma, according to its website.

“As CHOICE Arrangements continue gaining momentum across the country, we are proud to put this innovation into practice within our own organization and demonstrate how it can deliver meaningful value for employees,” Mr. Silver said in the release.

At the Becker's 5th Annual Fall Payer Issues Roundtable, taking place November 2–3 in Chicago, payer executives and healthcare leaders will come together to discuss value-based care, regulatory changes, cost management strategies and innovations shaping the future of payer-provider collaboration.
