Centene's canceled East Coast headquarters in Charlotte, N.C., is gaining interest from potential buyers, the Charlotte Business Journal reported March 4.
The 800,000-square-foot building is nearly completed and was originally planned to be part of a multi-building campus that would have housed more than 6,000 Centene employees, according to the report.
St. Louis-based Centene first announced the project in 2020 but canceled the project in August 2022, citing the shift to hybrid and remote work.
Multiple industry sources told the Journal they heard a large, single-user tenant is interested in buying the office building from Centene, but they declined to speculate on the record who the potential buyer might be. The news outlet said a multifamily developer with a Charlotte presence has expressed interest in the undeveloped land on the site.
