Centene in the headlines: 5 recent stories

From the resignation of a board member to a restructuring of the CEO's office, here are five recent headlines about the St. Louis-based payer:

1. Centene saw 24 percent revenue growth in the first quarter of 2022 and added nearly 2 million members, according to the company's earnings report released April 26.

2. Centene is updating its leadership structure, CEO Sarah London said on the company's April 26 earnings call. The office of the CEO will include Ms. London, President and COO Brent Layton, CFO Drew Asher, Chief Transformation Officer Jim Murray and Magellan Health CEO Ken Fasola. 

3. Former Centene Chair and CEO Michael Neidorff was the highest paid payer executive in 2021, according to proxy statements. Mr. Neidorff died April 7 at the age of 79. 

4. TCARE named former Centene Chief Solutions Officer Nate Moore as the company's COO April 27. St. Louis-based TCARE uses predictive technology to map interventions and reduce family providers' burdens.   

5. Centene's board of directors accepted the resignation of board member Leslie Norwalk April 15. In an April 11 letter, Ms. Norwalk said the process surrounding a recent important decision fell egregiously short of what she and other board members considered appropriate to make an informed decision. The decision was not specified in the letter.
