Centene updating office of the CEO, reducing real estate footprint

Centene is updating its leadership structure, CEO Sarah London said on the company's April 26 first-quarter 2022 earnings call.

The updated office of the CEO will assist Ms. London in setting policy and driving forward Centene's enterprise agenda, she said.

The office of the CEO will include Ms. London, President and COO Brent Layton, CFO Drew Asher, Chief Transformation Officer Jim Murray and Magellan Health CEO Ken Fasola.

Ms. London said Mr. Murray will take on expanded responsibilities in addition to Centene's value creation office. Mr. Fasola will assume oversight of Centene's portfolio of non-health plan assets in addition to leading Magellan Health. Centene acquired the Phoenix-based behavioral health insurer in January.

Ms. London said the restructuring formalizes the way the company has been operating for the past several months.

Also on the call, Mr. Asher said the company is expecting to reduce its U.S. leased real estate footprint by more than half. He said those details are being finalized and more details will be available at the company's June investor day.
