Anthem recorded higher revenues and profits during the third quarter of fiscal year 2019, according to recent earnings statements.
Four things to know:
1. In the third quarter ended Sept. 30, Anthem's total revenues grew by 14.7 percent to $26.7 billion, compared to $23.3 billion in the same period a year prior. Anthem said membership growth, premium rate increases and pharmacy services contributed to the growth.
2. The insurer's total medical enrollment grew to 41 million members in the third quarter, up 1.1 million year over year.
3. Anthem recorded third-quarter expenses of $25.2 billion, up 14.4 percent year over year from $22 billion.
4. The insurer ended the third quarter with a $1.2 billion profit, up 23.2 percent from $960 million reported in the same period a year prior.
