On a July 19 second quarter earnings call, CEO Gail Boudreaux said AI is an area of “focus and opportunity” for the company.

“Our data is centralized and cleansed and we are in the process of scaling digital solutions for greater impact and testing the application of new technologies,” she said.

Here are three uses of the technology, according to Ms. Boudreaux:

  1. Promoting identification of and access to whole health services during procedures like surgery, and screening for depression and other social drivers of health.
  2. Using a digital concierge care program to connect a patient’s entire care team.
  3. Employing language models to improve call center efficiency, accuracy and quality.

“We’re excited about these opportunities and the positive impacts they will have on consumers, care provider partners and the operating efficiency of Elevance Health,” she added.

At the Becker's 5th Annual Fall Payer Issues Roundtable, taking place November 2–3 in Chicago, payer executives and healthcare leaders will come together to discuss value-based care, regulatory changes, cost management strategies and innovations shaping the future of payer-provider collaboration.
