The agreement was extended until March 28, according to the filing. UnitedHealth and LHC also certified to the FTC their substantial compliance with a June 10 request for additional information and documentation regarding the proposed acquisition.
The FTC’s request for additional information also extended the waiting period the FTC is allowed to challenge the proposal under the Hart-Scott-Rodino Antitrust Improvements Act of 1976 until the 30th day after “substantial compliance” with the request.
UnitedHealth Group’s Optum unit agreed to buy Lafayette, La.-based LHC in late March in a $5.4 billion deal. UnitedHealth said at the time it expected to close the deal in the second half of the year.
