Meet Bright Health's board of directors

Bright Health Group's board of directors includes leaders from venture capital, managed care and health systems. 

These are the 12 directors of the Minneapolis-based company:

Bob Sheehy is chairperson and co-founder of Bright Health Group. Prior to founding the company, he advised private equity and venture capital firms on healthcare and served in executive roles at UnitedHealth Group from 1986 to 2009. 

Mike Mikan is vice chairperson, president and CEO of Bright Health Group. Prior to joining Bright Health, he was chairperson and CEO of private investment firm Shot-Rock Capital and served as president of CSL investments. He also held executive roles at UnitedHealth Group, including CFO. 

Mohamad Mahkzoumi is managing general partner and head of global healthcare at venture capital firm New Enterprise Associates. He serves on the boards of several healthcare companies, including health benefits start-up Collective Health, Comprehensive Pharmacy Services and Radiology Partners. 

Steve Kraus is a partner at venture capital firm Bessemer Venture Partners. He serves on the board of several other healthcare technology companies and is on the investment committee of Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts. 

Adair Newhall is a partner at venture capital firm Greenspring Associates. He serves on the board of directors of Crown Laboratories and advises five venture advisory boards. 

Kendrick Adkins retired as CFO of Mayo Clinic in 2017. He also serves on the advisory board of investment firm Welsh, Carson, Anderson and Stowe. 

Naomi Allen is CEO and co-founder of virtual mental health provider Brightline. She was previously chief growth officer for virtual care provider Livongo Health. 

Linda Gooden retired as executive vice president of information systems and global solutions at Lockheed Martin in 2013. She also serves on the boards of General Motors, Home Depot, Automatic Data Processing and WGL Holdings. 

Jeff Immelt is a venture partner at New Enterprise Associates. He previously served as chairperson and CEO of General Electric from 2001 to 2017. He also serves on the boards of technology companies Tuya and Twilio, manufacturing company Desktop Metal and Bloom Energy Corporation. 

Manny Kadre is the lead independent director on Bright Health's board. Mr. Kadre is chairperson and CEO of luxury auto retailer MBB Auto Group. He also chairs the board of waste disposal company Republic Services and serves on the boards of Home Depot and Mednax Services. 

Andy Slavitt was formerly President Joe Biden's senior adviser for COVID-19 response and was acting director of CMS from 2015 to 2017. Mr. Slavitt is a founding partner of healthcare venture firm Town Hall Ventures. 

Matt Manders was most recently president of Cigna's government, individual, group and commercial business. He spent 30-plus years working for Cigna.
