Bobby Hunter has been named president of UnitedHealthcare.
Mr. Hunter said Sept. 28 his focus in the new role will be on speeding up UnitedHealthcare’s modernization agenda, working toward a system where plans and providers work together more seamlessly, information flows instantly and care teams spend more time with patients.
“To get there, we must continue to deliver on the commitments we make to the people, providers, customers, and communities who count on us every day,” he wrote on Linkedin.
Mr. Hunter most recently served as CEO of government programs at UnitedHealthcare. He first joined UnitedHealth Group in 2011 and spent several years in corporate development before moving into UnitedHealthcare’s Medicare business, where he served as CFO of individual Medicare Advantage and senior vice president of Medicare Advantage product and experience. He was named president of the insurer’s Medicare business in 2024 and later CEO of the Medicare and retirement segment. In July 2025, he was named CEO of government programs.
The move follows other recent leadership changes at the company this month, with Dan Kueter, CEO of UnitedHealthcare’s commercial business, moving into a new role as chief commercial officer at UnitedHealth Group, and former Kaiser Permanente executive Brandon Cuevas returning to lead UnitedHealthcare’s commercial business. Tim Noel serves as CEO of UnitedHealthcare.
