Suha Assi has been named CEO of UnitedHealthcare’s individual Medicare Advantage business.

She succeeds Dennis O’Brien, who was named president of UnitedHealthcare Networks in September.

“For much of the last 20 years, my work has been rooted in the Southeast, where relationships with our teams, providers and communities have shaped how I think about this business and, most importantly, the people we serve,” Ms. Assi wrote Nov. 3 on Linkedin.

She first joined UnitedHealth in 2017 and most recently served as a regional Medicare CEO. She spent about a decade at Cigna’s former HealthSpring business before that.

The appointment follows several other leadership changes at UnitedHealth Group this fall, including Bobby Hunter, who was named president of UnitedHealthcare in September.

At the Becker's 5th Annual Fall Payer Issues Roundtable, taking place November 2–3 in Chicago, payer executives and healthcare leaders will come together to discuss value-based care, regulatory changes, cost management strategies and innovations shaping the future of payer-provider collaboration.
