Shift Technology taps former CMS administrator Seema Verma for advisory board

Former CMS Administrator Seema Verma will join the healthcare advisory board of artificial intelligence-driven insurance technology developer Shift Technologies.

In a Sept. 7 media release, the company said Ms. Verma and the newly-created healthcare advisory board will help the company solve payer challenges. Shift develops AI technology to detect improper payments. 

“There is an amazing opportunity to drive significant bottom-line improvement for health plans and we are thrilled to collaborate with one of the best minds in the industry to help us realize our vision,” Salil Punalekar, head of U.S. healthcare for the company, said in the press release. 

Ms. Verma served as CMS administrator under former President Donald Trump from 2017 to 2021.

Since leaving CMS, Ms. Verma has joined the board of directors of other healthcare companies, including mental healthcare provider LifeStance Health and Lumeris, a healthcare-focused technology company.
